Instructions

  • Occasionaly during especially difficult times we are blessed with a special friend or loved one that steps up to help shoulder the burden. This is a special card to let this person know just how much the gift of their friendship meant to you.
  • This card uses four different papers, in the following measurements:
    • #161-30 Long Cards - Golden Wheat: pre-cut at 4 1/4 x 11"
    • CS206 - Black Cardstock: 4 1/2 x 4" (plus smaller pieces to be cut later)
    • CS207 - Birch Cardstock: Multiple pieces to be cut
    • Striped Paper: 4 1/4 x 4"
  • Fold two segments in towards the center, as shown below (score the folds):
  • Fold the two outer segments of the card in towards the center, so they meet in the middle like window shutters. We're going to put two holes, one in each 'shutter', about a half-inch away from the edge where the two shutters meet. Don't punch holes in the shutters yet.
  • Now, cut two squares out of black cardstock, each 3/4" square (or use a 3/4" square punch). Attach these two squares to the inside of the shutters, again at the center where they meet. When both squares are attached, then punch one 1/8" hole in each shutter, in the center of the square.
  • Cut a rectangle out of your birch cardstock, 4 1/4 inches wide and at least 3 inches tall. Stamp a screen (F1176) in Sunflower Yellow Designer Ink along one 4 1/4" side of the rectangle, about 1/4" away from the corner, so that that the square is pointed upward, diagonally (note sample).
  • Stamp two Sunbursts (C2954) at the top left corner of the rectangle, at the opposite end of the screen, in Sunflower Yellow Ink. Stamp the left-most Sunburst right against the left-hand edge. (We'll attach the buttons as shown at a later step).
  • Measure two and a half inches up the right hand side, and begin to cut in towards the Sunbursts, and then around the images.
  • Stamps "Thanks for Being There" in Black Outliner in the right-center of the rectangle, over the screen.
  • Sponge Sunflower Yellow Ink over the card, and drag the edges of the cardstock across the pad to darken the edges. Stitch the buttons as shown. Set this segment aside.
  • Cut a 3 x 2" rectangle out of Birch cardstock. Stamp a Sunburst in the center of the rectangle in Sunflower Yellow Ink, and "I Always Thank God" in Black Outliner on top. Tear one long end of the rectangle for a textured edge, and sponge over the whole thing with Sunflower Yellow Ink, and drag the edges of the cardstock across the stamp pad. Attach to the right-hand shutter, on the inside. It's okay if it overlaps the black square a little bit (please note sample).
  • Take your 4 1/2 x 4" black cardstock. Tear off one long end, so you have a rectangle 4 1/2 x 3 1/2". Attach to the center segment of the yellow card, with the torn edge along the top.
  • Now take your Olive Striped text-weight paper.Tear off one long end, leaving you a 4 1/4 x 3 1/4" rectangle. Attach on top of the black cardstock, again with the torn edge at the top.
  • Now attach your Sunburst card that you finished in step 10 on top of the Olive Striped text-weight. Please note sample for placement.
  • On spare Birch cardstock, stamp another Sunburst in Sunflower Yellow, stitch on a button, cut it out, and attach (with mounting tape) as shown in the sample at top.
  • Take one Metal Rim Tag and stamp a Bumble Bee in the center in Black Outliner. Color in with yellow colored pencil, and also color a halo of light blue around the bumble bee to make him POP!
  • Thread your length of olive gingham ribbon through the circle of the left-hand shutter on the main card, and then thread the Bumble Bee tag onto the ribbon, and tie a knot and trim the ends.
  • What a lovely card to remember someone very special!
